Text of February 22, 2012 Message
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.”
ROM 3:22-25
As we enter the Lenten season, it is good to remember that “all have sinned and fall short of God’s glorious standard”. In this scripture Paul reminds us of the immensity of God’s love for us, and how Christ’s sacrifice freed us from being captive to sin. Today begins Lent, 40 days of our personal sacrifice to remind us, daily, of THE sacrifice that was made for us.
Takeaway: Think about the sacrifices you have made out of love…for friends, family, strangers…as a way to catch a glimpse of how much love for you is expressed through Christ’s sacrifice.
