Jim Northrup
Media Specialist

Born into a Methodist family in Syracuse, NY, Jim Northrup has been active in the church and has served in all areas from youth leader to council chairperson over the years. Jim is very pleased to be part of CBTS helping to enhance the worship experience and encouraging others in their walk with Christ.

Jim attended Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1973. Graduate studies in communications at SUNY / Syracuse University preceded work for the Fayetteville-Manlius school district as a media specialist and technical director for their district auditorium. Jim was also the advertising/marketing manager for a Syracuse based manufacturing firm in the electronics industry.

While living in Central New York, Jim made the most of its greatest raw material – snow -- as a PSIA cross country ski instructor and manager for a sporting goods retailer. He and his wife Sharon moved to Vero Beach in 1982 where he worked with his father before joining the Press Journal in 1987. Jim was an advertising account executive for the paper for 21 years and is now self-employed specializing in remodeling and repairs.

Jim is an Eagle Scout, enjoys genealogy, and goes out dancing with his wife weekly.  Jim and Sharon have two children, Ben, a mechanical engineer in Troy, Michigan and Julie, a recent business graduate from the University of Florida.
